This painting unwittingly suggests Paul's misogynist, isolated, dualistic Christianity at one pole -- and the need for a flowing, Wasteland-quenching, Jungian "union of opposites" at the other.  According to Jung in Aion, this process will finally reach consciousness in the Age of Aquarius.
