Notes:

The above two red-toned bar-dividers on Asian subcategory pages are details that I cropped from two 13th century carved and painted wood manuscript-covers from Tibet.  The simple wooden one used on this portal page is cropped from "Lower cover from an unidentified manuscript: carved and painted wood, Tibet , circa 1200."  These may be seen in their entirety at a stunning Asian Arts site, "Guardians of the Sacred Word," a 1996 exhibition of 12th -15th centuries organized by Anna Maria Rossi and Fabio Rossi.
Updates:
3 February 1999; 2 April 2000;
26 May 2007:  corrected e-mail; changed font colors & opening bars;
deleted opening globe & work-in-progress notice;
 added Asian timeshare ad.
28 April 2009: deleted timeshare ad -- this company looks legit and all 4 links went only to their pages, but the company, FYD ("Follow Your Dreams") that booked them didn't respond to my renewal request this year, which seemed odd, since they renewed right away last year.  I googled FYD, found only one link, which did not go to them, and discovered that they're running a scam to get pages rated higher in google searches, or something.  Makes no sense to me but I want no part in a scam.  I am now removing all 7 ads on 7 different pages of mine.

26 May 2012: this page didn't have a weird, flattened globe at the top but many of the others in this "Asia" section did.  I just went through everything and corrected this.   I have no time to put an "update" on each page. So this one, at the beginning of the series, will have to suffice.  Also no time for any links-check, though these pages badly need one!
