Dreamtime
Dreams and the Link to Life –
A Recommendation for Guided Dream InterpretationBy Dr. Rebecca Armstrong
I’ve been keeping a dream notebook since I was 15, but this year so many things started to "click” that I felt in need of someone to help me make sense of the puzzle pieces. In Kathleen Jenks I discovered an amazing guide to the “otherworld” of the mythic imagination!
For those of you who know me through the world of mythology and the Joseph Campbell Foundation, you may recall that Kathleen’s website – mythinglinks.org – was one of the very first and highest rated sites we put up in the Resources section for the Foundation. Kathleen’s site is an enormous treasure trove of definitions, discussions, images and further links to every conceivable topic in mythology. (Just last month, she added a whole section on bugs and fireflies, in particular!) Of course, as Campbell said, the dream is the personal myth and myth the public dream, so all this knowledge of mythic imagery makes Kathleen a genius at personal dream interpretation. Everything has significance in dreams, and being able to link the personal back to the collective is often the “missing link” that brings the “AHA!” moment in working with the dream.
This is all a long way of saying that I can’t think of anyone more qualified to help with dream interpretation than Kathleen Jenks. Her very first published work was a book called Journey of a Dream Animal, which looked at her own dream process and its role in her early life. The enthusiastic introduction by Jean Huston also proclaims Kathleen’s genius for making the connection between the symbolic images of the dreamworld and the challenges confronting the dreamer in the waking world.
I drove up to Kathleen’s place in southwest Michigan to have a face-to-face session, but she also does great phone sessions if you live further afield. The dreamwork is an addition to her ongoing work in past life regression, which is also fantastic.
